Community Agenda for Social Assistance Reform
We are a group of individuals and organizations that believe that true social assistance reform can happen in Nova Scotia. This reform must be based on adequacy and human rights and can only come from true collaboration with the community.
We need a social assistance system based on:
Human Rights. |
Adequacy. |
Uses a lens inclusive of human rights, social determinates of health, gender and rural communities.
Collaboration.Government will work in collaboration with recipients of social assistance and their allies to develop a new social assistance program, legislation, policies.

Everyone has the right to an adequate standard of living - raise the rates of social assistance to allow people to live in dignity.
Trust.A program based on a culture of trust and problem solving.
